Just Like Mother

by Anne Heltzel

Rating:

Genres:

Horror, Thriller

Summary:

Maeve was always close to her cousin Andrea when they were children until they were removed from the maternity-obsessed cult they were both raised in. They didn't have contact after that for many years until Andrea suddenly reached out. Maeve reestablishes contact and tries everything to rekindle the close relationship she had with her cousin, even if it means ignoring the many strange and concerning things happening around her.

Review:

The beginning of the story was very intriguing. I liked how it established the cult and the effects it had on Maeve as well as her relationship with Andrea. The plot was pretty predictable from the very beginning of the story, but it didn't bother me at first. It became more of a problem when the story stagnated in the middle and I eventually realized there wasn't really anything new coming. Also, the ending was not enjoyable and left a very bitter taste in my mouth.
